Pirton Court is an elegant grade 2* listed Manor House situated in the stunning Worcestershire countryside. The estate is almost equidistant between the historic city of Worcester on the River Severn and the largely Georgian town of Pershore on the River Avon. The Malvern Hills and Spa town of Cheltenham are 20 minutes’ drive, and the village is 30 miles from the border of mid Wales.
Dwellings on the site pre-date the doomsday book with the Court’s first “printed” mention in 1221. The moat is mediaeval likely dug between 1290 & 1325. Formally known as Ffolliotts Court & Pirton Ffolliot, sections of the grand house you see today are clearly visible on the "Pierce map" of 1623. Evidence of the earlier property also remain internally with blocked doorways and "underfloors". The property today is largely a well-preserved 18th century Manor house.
Purchased in 1663 by the Earl of Coventry, the house remained in the hands of the Coventry family and the Croome Estate for over 300 years.
The 6th Earl lived in the house with his wife Maria Gunning during Capability Brown's Georgian remodelling of Croome Court.
Extended in 1910 the 11- bedroom property became the home for Lord & Lady Deerhurst & their family until 1955.
The house went through a series of calamitous events before being divided into two properties. Peter & Jacqui bought the older North West section in 2013 and set about an enormous restoration and conservation programme.
"Our mission has been to re-establish its once grand setting by working the gardens, preserving the original features and highlighting it's enchanting character".
"We are delighted to announce that the stone, brick and clay have now been restored. The wood and stone floors have been cleaned and polished and the curtains opened to let the light flood in. The sound of children's laughter and popping corks once echo again throughout the house and grounds".
They have also researched the houses history, its distinguished visitors and those who lived and worked here. They have uncovered the secrets of their lives, their loves and their tragedies along the way…
During 2024 the house opened for history talks and selected private & corporate events.
